Serco signs up for
Sabien’s M2G energy saving technology
Serco the leading service and FTSE 100 company is to offer Sabien’s patented M2G
boiler optimiser to its commercial customers following a successful pilot of M2G
resulting in a 12% reduction in gas consumption at its centre of excellence
headquarters in Hook.
Graeme Cameron, Serco’s Director of Energy and Sustainability explained;
“Serco has been offering energy management services to customers for many years
and we are extending our capabilities and restructuring the package of energy
services we offer. Now that we have thoroughly tested and validated the M2G in
our own building we are very confident in including it in the range of energy
efficiency measures we are offering customers.”
M2G was retrofitted to the boilers and was interfaced with the existing Building
Energy Management System (BEMS). Over a 30 day period a 12% energy savings was
delivered, over and above those already being achieved by the BEMS, with a
projected payback of just 68 weeks. M2G achieves energy identifying and removing
“dry cycling” a common problem in virtually all commercial boilers - something
that building management and building energy management systems do not typically
address.
Alan Taylor, Serco’s Technical Manager for Government Integrated Services noted:
“Many people think BEMS can control every aspect of a boiler’s operation but
this is not the case. The M2G interfaced very smoothly with our BEMS and the two
systems now complement each other to maximise energy savings”.
